Blake Lively reveals how baby bump caused red carpet wardrobe malfunction
Blake Lively was hailed as the queen of chic maternity style throughout her pregnancy, but the actress has recently revealed that she didn't actually buy much maternity wear. She in fact insisted on wearing her old clothes so much that she ripped one of her dresses. Last month Blake stepped out to L'Oréal's Women of Worth dinner in New York and wowed in a form-fitting backless black gown. Her show-stopping, daring number wasn't, however, her original choice of outfit.
Blake Lively revealed that she didn't buy much maternity wear
"I was going to wear a different dress that evening but… it broke," Blake, 27, told . "I was too big! The zipper just broke. It popped right open. I changed right before I walked out the door. I have that dress for real life, not pregnant life." The new mum, who welcomed her first baby with her husband Ryan Reynolds just a few weeks after stepping out to the L'Oréal ceremony, added that she didn't buy anything maternity apart from new jeans. "Everything is my clothing, it's something I can and will wear when I'm not pregnant," said Blake. She shared: "It's important to still feel like yourself, because so much of your life is changing. I would've felt foreign in my own body if I'd started dressing differently."
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds welcomed their first child in December
While Blake and Ryan, 38, have yet to confirm the gender and name of their baby, insiders have revealed that the couple welcomed a daughter at the end of December, and have reportedly called her Violet. The former star, who has four older siblings and has made no secret of her desire to have a big family, has also opened up about her new role of motherhood. "This is the happiest time in my life, and I could say that every day," Blake told . "I often feel like, 'I can't believe I'm experiencing this.'"
As the youngest of five, Blake Lively has said that she's always wanted a big family
"I don't feel like it's a massive change," she added. "I do want to just enjoy this moment, but I also feel like my first child is going to be the oldest sibling to the next kid, and that may change with each and every year. I'm looking forward to how one baby influences the other, and to my family as a whole, to every single chapter."
