Leona Lewis parts company with Simon Cowell's record label
Leona Lewis has left Simon Cowell's record label Syco. The former winner, who Simon has in the past hailed as the person who saved the ITV singing show, revealed that she would be joining rival Universal label Island Records.
They look after the likes of Drake, Jessie J, Florence + the Machine, Robbie Williams and Nicki Minaj.

"So happy to finally be able to share the amazing news that I have joined the @islandrecordsuk family! Excited for this next chapter...," wrote Leona on Twitter to her 1.2million followers. The singer later posted a photo of a note reading: "A new chapter". Simon was quick to show his support for Leona, tweeting: "Congratulations Leona. We had 7 great years together and now wish you all the best for the future. You put on the map. X."

"When we created, it was more than a television show," the music mogul, 54, has previously said about his protégé.
"The idea behind it was to discover real stars. When I think of our biggest success on, initially, one person changed the perception of the show worldwide and her name is Leona Lewis. You literally saved our show."
